As part of the World Space Week 2015, ISRO conducted a 6-day long Space Expo at Kanakakunnu Palace, Thiruvananthapuram. The Annual Space week is over year observed on October 4 to 10.

The Space Expo focuses on how space applications have contributed to India’s progress.

At Kankakkunnu, ISRO had setup 17 booths showcasing static and working models of satellites and launch vehicles of ISRO. In addition, there are also videos and animations of all missions undertaken by the organisation.

Experiencious was invited by VSSC(Vikram Sarabhai Space Center) to showcase the cutting edge technology of Virtual reality for public to witness 360 degree space experience.

The Expo also features various spin-off projects of ISRO. It showcases technology developed for space applications which benefited other areas such as the Jaipur leg and the ‘Search and Rescue Beacon’ developed for fishermen. In total ISRO has nearly 325 such spin-offs.

The commencing and concluding dates of world space week recalls two important dates in space history. 04 October, 1957: Journey to space started with the launch of the first man-made Earth satellite, Sputnik 1. 10 October, 1967: The signing of the treaty on principles governing the activities of states in the exploration and peaceful uses of outer space, including the Moon and other celestial bodies.
